The Contract by Lisa Renee Jones

Rebecca's Lost Journals, Volume 2: The Contract - Lisa Renee Jones

why all the tossing & turning over the contract? you knew you were gonna sign it! just postponing the inevitable...

The Seduction by Lisa Renee Jones

Rebecca's Lost Journals, Volume 1: The Seduction - Lisa Renee Jones

think I'm liking this better than If I were you. lets see how they progress...

Touch Me by Tamara Hogan

Touch Me - Tamara Hogan

*this copy kindly provided by NetGalley on behalf of the publishers

HOT! I now need to get me the rest of this series...

this is very short but still gives you all the info you need. you don't feel like you've missed anything vital by not reading the previous books, and it leaves you hungry for more to come in the next book.

Vampires, werewolves, Valkyrie, faeries, sirens, incubi and succubi... and of course, mere humans. and it all adds up to some super-charged hotness!

If I Were You by Lisa Renee Jones

If I Were You (Inside Out Trilogy, #1) - Lisa Renee Jones

oooooh what a place to leave it...

so far I gotta say I'm not in love with this book, but I also don't hate it. I'm just not feeling anything special here...

Sara's been pissing me off with her constant reminders that it's just a hot sexy affair, then cracking the shits because Chris won't open up to her. & if he does open up a bit, she slams the door & refuses to give anything. this girl wants to have her cake AND eat it too! girl, you gotta pick one & go with it!

I've got some theories going on, so will see how they come out in the next one. & hopefully Sara will get her shit together...

Deceiving Derek by Cindy Procter-King

Deceiving Derek (Love & Other Calamities) - Cindy Procter-King

*this copy kindly provided by NetGalley on behalf of the publishers

one problem... IT'S WAY TOO SHORT!

would love to see more of Derek & Lacey, unfortunately their story doesn't continue in book 2.

this was lots of fun to read, right from the start to the very end. the initial spark between the two characters was good, but would've loved to see their relationship develop more in a longer book, or at the very least more instalments.

the way in which these two meet is quite unconventional, a little unrealistic, but at the same time you can believe that a sibling actually would pull the strings necessary for it to happen.

lots of giggles packed into a super tiny book!

Eat, Play, Lust by Tawna Fenske

Eat Play Lust - Tawna Fenske

** ARC provided by NetGalley on behalf of the publishers.

WOW, book high! can't stop grinning like a fool lol. If you need a laugh, read this!

Cami - a yoga instructor with serious food hang-ups due to her mother, & a tater tot obsession
Paul - a gourmet chef needing to work a little more on his fitness, & a severe case of foot in mouth

put these two together & all I can do is laugh, but in a good way. sparks fly between them, they have a great natural chemistry & get on so well. even with her issues & his constant talking/verbal diarrhoea.

a few moments that I loved (there were more, but I can't really post the whole book, lol):

“What are you doing?”
Paul looked up and shrugged. “At the moment? Sniffing myself to make sure I’m not too sweaty.”

“Be sure to leave a few plain, too. It’s kinda like sex. The point isn’t to have head-banging, nail-you-up-against-the-wall-with-one-leg-behind-your-neck encounters ever single time. The point is to mix it up, with a little missionary, a little cowgirl, a little—”

“Now I have to think about whether I shoved the condoms in the fridge with the scallops.” Paul frowned. “This could be uncomfortable.”

Beneath the Surface by M.A. Stacie

Beneath the Surface‏ - M.A. Stacie

**ARC kindly provided by NetGalley and the publishers.

3.5 stars! I really enjoyed this one, but there were a few things that annoyed me.

early on I got pissy with Dale... no sooner had they discussed & agreed they're "just sex" she'd be asking again what they are. & I really didn't see what she was so pissed off about when she stormed into Metro to rip into him.

after that it all fell into a fun, comfortable place just like Kyran & Dale did, & completely agree with her choice to walk away when he couldn't promise her he'd feel the same way she did, even if he did feel something. sometimes you have to do things that hurt to ensure you're not completely broken later on. and I'm gonna say it's cause I was tired & shoulda been sleeping, but this bit made me cry. she let slip those 3 little words, & I think it was all made worse when he didn't react the way she thought. but yes, she cried, I cried, & he left :(

I had an inkling what was going on with the blank cards in the mail, but it was still so sweet when it happened. & I loved that they still used the "labels" in the epilogue!

oh, and Trace & Dale seriously had the wrong names... to me Dale is a guys name & Trace is short for Tracey so it's gotta be a girls name. just had to throw that in there.

another thing hat pissed me off was when Clara turned into Clare & back again. how on earth did that happen? there was no Clare in the story! there were a few other little editing errors that I could easily forgive, but not Clare!

other than that, it was pretty easy to read, and a bit of fun too.

The Silver Falcon by Katia Fox

The Silver Falcon - Katia Fox, Aubrey Botsford

**Thankyou to NetGalley and the publishers for this copy

I don't know where to start with this, or even what to say at all really...

at times this feels like it drags out a little bit, but at the same time I don't know what could have been left out. we're following William through life from a very early age, through all his struggles, and triumphs. quite similar to his mother's story in The Copper Sign, but also very different.

it's also a look into the life & times of 12th/13th century England & Normandie. and there is a "chapter" at the end that gives all the info on what/who was fact & fiction throughout the story.

from everything that happened throughout this journey, I found this book to be about people. some people are truly good people, while others are and always will be evil. some people will do everything possible to achieve their dreams, while other's will put in the same effort to destroying the lives of others. and also the power of true friendship.

everything is covered in this book - love, loss, sickness, health, poverty, riches, nobody's, royalty, truths, lies, & revelations. everyone & everything imaginable is squeezed into this one epic lifetime.

Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire

Walking Disaster - Jamie McGuire

Travis is just too funny sometimes, the shit that comes out of his mouth... love it!

& LMFAO at Jessica & James! I can't believe they named their kids after Abby's fake ID!

Bad by Kelly Favor

Bad - Kelly Favor

still loving Caelyn & Elijah. Well, when she made that phone call at the end of the last book, there were no confessions as I thought, but even if she did tell her mum the truth I doubt she would've believed her daughter anyway.

my god is Deena a little bitch, & so are her parents to be honest.
can't wait to see Jayson get what's coming to him, piece of slime deserves it!

we did get a little slip up with character names, where "Jayson" popped up when it should have been "Elijah", just like it happened a few times in the "for his pleasure" series. but I can forgive Kelly for that. there is just something about her books that I love, with the exception of fight for her, I just didn't connect with that one :(

I just really hope Kelly brings this series to an end before it fizzles out like "for his pleasure" did...

Song for Papa Crow by Marit Menzin

Song for Papa Crow - Marit Menzin

**ARC provided by NetGalley on behalf of publishers

a young crow loves to sing and wants to be able to share his songs with his friends, but nobody likes his song. he finds the help he needs to sing beautiful songs like the others, but learns the hard way that it is far better to just be yourself.

a nicely told story with a great message.

the only concern I have for this book is the font used. I believe children's books should have nice clear text to help children learn to read. this book has a very pretty text, that I think would be hard for children to read. other than that, it's a lovely book.

I'm Sorry, Grover: A Rosh Hashanah Tale (Read-Aloud Edition) - Tilda Balsley, Ellen Fischer, Tom Leigh *thankyou to NetGalley and the publishers for this copy!

"oh boy, oh boy, oh boy" another great little story from Cookie & lovable furry old Grover. love these sesame street guys, and they'll certainly ensure the kids love the book too!

this one's all about being a good friend, and if you do something to upset a friend you can make them feel better again by apologising for what you did.

some info about Rosh Hashanah included in the back of the book too.

The Copper Sign by Katia Fox

The Copper Sign - Katia Fox

what a journey! from somewhere around a third of the way in nothing at all followed the path I had envisioned this story would follow. there were a few time it felt to be dragging a little, or that we were repeating a previous event, & I did start thinking that Ellen was not going to survive this book, but we got a happy ending!

Sage's Song by Karen Kilpatrick

Sage's Song - Karen Kilpatrick, Tara L. Campbell, Matthew Wilson

Sage loves music and she has learnt to find it everywhere in everyday things. there are all kinds of sounds to be found, both loud and quiet.

this book has a great, easy to follow rhyme and rhythm that makes it super easy to read & kids love it too. lots of fun with bright cheery illustrations to match!

*thankyou to NetGalley and the publishers for this copy

Loula Is Leaving for Africa by Anne Villeneuve

Loula Is Leaving for Africa - Anne Villeneuve

**thankyou to NetGalley & the publishers for kindly providing this ARC!

ah, don't we all need to go to "Africa" occasionally?!

I love how Gilbert the chauffeur plays along with Loula, taking her on an adventure to Africa. It's so sweet & gives her the break she so badly needs from her "Three MEAN, HORRIBLE, STINKY brothers".

The illustrations are taking me back to my own childhood & the books I loved. the first page where her 3 terrible brothers trip her as she's coming through the door reminds me of Quentin Blake's fabulous illustrations. placing the two side by side showed me they are indeed very different, but they both hold that fun, childlike quality that is a great story teller.

would be fabulous to share with kids that feel they also need to get away from their siblings for a bit.

Ten Birds Meet a Monster by Cybele Young

Ten Birds Meet a Monster - Cybèle Young

**thankyou to NetGalley & the publishers for kindly providing this ARC!

Loved it! nine birds all accepting what they see straight up as truth, but one little bird dares to look a little closer and finds it's nothing at all like the rest of them thought.

there will be lots of giggles over the funny made up names for the scary monsters the birds make.

brilliant illustrations! all in a blue-ish black & white, highly detailed, and no colours. fits really well with the scary monsters in the shadows.

a really lovely book!
